Spring is in the air, and with it the cravings for fruity summer flavours. Luckily, my mum had some raspberries and blueberries in the freezer - and that’s how the Very Berry French Toast was born! Made with stale bread (and stale works better than fresh, actually), cottage cheese and frozen berries, a feel good breakfast approved by my little helpers, Zosia and Kola. Friday was all about baking! @klaudia.swietek and me visited a preschool in Bochnia for a baking workshop (@k_laudia_g thanks for inviting us! 💛) We made Dreamy Rainbow Cookies again, but this time with a twist: gluten free, lactose free and sugar free! Food allergies and intolerances have to be approached creatively, we thought, and we worked to develop recipe for cookies that all the children from Bochnia’s Therapeutic Preschool ‘Sensori’ could eat. Delíra La Weiss from Italian Craft Brewery, Italy 🇮🇹. As our time in Istria drew to a finish (along with our finances 😂), so too did my collection of beers 😩. Luckily our hosts @bolara60 bought me a little gift on a short trip to Trieste, and like I always say - a free beer is always a good beer 😉. A Wheat Beer at 5.5%. Probably drinking it a lot less lively than it should be (fizzed over when I opened!). A mix of orange and slightly floral flavours. Finally a sunset! It's only been in the past week or so where the weather has changed slightly and there's no longer a white sky mirrored by the snow covered countryside. Zlatorog Temno from Pivovarna Laško, Slovenia 🇸🇮. When talking to a Slovenian (the one who let us pitch a tent on the meadow by his house) about my enthusiasm for beers, I was asked if I had posted Laško yet. I told him I had bought a couple bottles of Union already, his response being: "In Slovenia we drink Laško and we pee Union" 😂😂. Well I wouldn't like to disappoint, so I picked one of these up before we left! A Dark Lager at 4.9%. A smoky malt flavour with a subtle dark fruit sweetness. Finish is only slightly bitter. Pale Ale from Varionica, Croatia 🇭🇷. Back in Croatia, we decided to take a day off and visit a few places we hadn't yet had the chance to, but as our luck would have it, it was a pretty grey and rainy day 😂. At least we could seek refuge in a cafe, and luckily this one had a beer I hadn't tried yet! A Pale Ale at 5.2%. Pine and citrus flavours with a hint of tropical fruit. Slightly malty, bitter finish.
