Grasshopper close-up. Another insect we found whilst working in the garden back in Bolara. This was by far the biggest I've ever seen, probably about 7/8cm long. I was quite surprised it let me get so close to take a photo! Also, it could be a locust, however I don't claim to be an insect expert, and I was struggling to confirm after some (pretty quick) research online. It seems that it's all down to whether or not they swarm... Tornado IPA from Bura Brew, Croatia 🇭🇷. I recently went to a small beer festival in Poreč which featured about 15 craft breweries from the region. Being the home town of this brewer, they obviously had a stall, but since it's fairly easy to find in shops, I went for the unknown (to me, at least). Unfortunately there was only so many beers I could afford (and handle!) in one night, so at least I have this bottle to test out at home 😉. An IPA at 6.2%. Dry, citrus tone with some floral hints. Quite lively and creamy which didn't work well for me in this beer. Mushroom hunting time! The good thing about the damp weather we had during our last couple weeks in Istria was that it was perfect for mushrooms to grow! Not really a huge fan of mushrooms myself, but @ahohomemadefood loves them, and besides, it's quite fun walking around the forest searching for them! Villacher Märzen from Vereinigte Kärntner Brauereien, Austria 🇦🇹. I actually had my first two and a half bottles of this beer on the Italian side of the Alps (dropped one whilst setting up the tent 😂). It was pretty cheap and satisfying, so since I was in Villach the next day - even walking past the brewery - it seemed rude not to take one for the road! A Märzen Beer at 5%. Little bit sweet but hoppy with a pine flavour to it. Only slightly bitter, very easy drinking. Our one and only trip to Motovun. Even though we spent two and a half months in Istria, we only made ourselves available to visit this hilltop village once - and obviously we chose not only the wettest and coldest day we'd seen for months, but it also happened to fall on a national holiday too 😂. Still, we walked around the walls to admire the views (mostly of clouds...) and chilled in a small café for a while, we were even treated to a rainbow after leaving! La Tarsina IPA from Birra Flea, Italy 🇮🇹. Definitely need to head back to Italy at some point, if not only to revitalise my search for beers 😁. Bit disappointed that I only really managed to find IPAs, but I won't complain as long as there's something to drink 😉. An IPA at 6.3%. Flavour is similar to a herbal, lemon and honey tea. Fairly dry with a medium bitter finish.
